I have a quick trick that’ll save your precious time and energy.
Part of you will want to tell your partner and friends about this because it’s so easy. Why wouldn’t everyone do it?
On the other hand, part of you will want to keep the unfair advantage to yourself.
I won’t tell you which way to go, but I’ll ask you to do this right now. You’ll be done in less than 5 minutes.
Here’s The Trick
Create a list of 3 things that take up your time and energy that you dislike (dare I say hate) doing.
These could be things for work or chores at home.
What reports, meetings, tasks, or habits have you gotten into at work that you don’t love and could ditch?
Which errands, housework, driving duties, or so-called obligations do you do with consistency that you could delegate to another, stop doing altogether or at least press pause for 21 days?
Write them down now — bonus points for finding 3 for work and 3 for home.
Why Should You Do This
Because you don’t have to live in a state of overwhelm, constantly being busy. You’re an adult, and you have choices. You get to choose how to use your time, talents, and energy every single day.
How your time is spent tends to get into a routine that may be intentional at first, but after a few months (or a few years), do you really want to — or still need to — do those things?
If the answer is no, it’s time to delegate, ask for help, stop, or at least pause for a few weeks to see if that thing even needs to be done in the first place. Will anyone miss it?
I just did this exercise myself. Wanna know what my 3 things were? Watch this 2-minute video.
So, what are your 3 things? Write them down now and decide what to do.
Will you delegate or ask for help?
Can you stop doing any or all of them?
Don’t overthink it. Go with your gut.
I remember running and analyzing a dozen reports every Monday that ate up my entire day when I was in a corporate role. Did anyone read all 12 reports? Not likely. Could I have nixed a few and saved my time and sanity? Oh, hell yes!
Deep down, your inner wisdom knows that productivity-obsessed, hustle-culture is a complete sham.
If you want simplicity, freedom, peace, and ease, let’s create more space in your life to focus on the things you love.
Make your list now.
